If we’re being completely honest, we know that everyone strives for a healthy lifestyle. For most people, the ultimate goal in life is to be as healthy as possible.
Everybody also knows that transforming your life is not easy, so I created a simple list of “healthy habits” to assist with the difficulties, along with the process of becoming healthier. (Not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well!)
My Journey
If I am being real, I am still in the beginning of my health journey.
Like I said, it can sometimes be a struggle. The aspect I find myself struggling with the most isn’t the actual goals or habits, it is the discipline that it takes to become a healthier version of myself.
Having Goals
Setting goals is by far the most important part of creating a healthier lifestyle.
Setting goals is also the easiest part of being healthy. Actually achieving the goals though… Not so much. This is what I personally struggle with the most, and what I find myself needing to work on.
It really works wonders when you set the goals though, and then keep those goals in your head. Furthermore, creating a “why” and “how” behind the goal. Why do you want to achieve this goal? Why are you doing this? How is this going to affect your life when you achieve it?
MY Goals and Healthy Habits
Workout 3-5x per Week
My first fitness goal is working out a minimum of 3 times to 5 times a week. This is one that I have, (for the most part), achieved. Honestly, it has benefited me in so many ways. I love being able to feel so great, during and after the workout. I also started personal training, which has helped me schedule workouts and have more motivation to go into the gym.
This is a great healthy habit to have, of course. It is a very good thing for your body, even if it is just going for a walk a few times a week.
Camping/Hiking LOTS this Summer
Moving to Colorado this summer, I am hoping to get in a lot of hiking and camping. My goal is to go camping at least 1 time every warm-weather month, and hiking 1-3 times a month.
Getting outside, even if it is not camping or hiking, is always a very healthy goal to set. Being outdoors assists in having a healthier mind and body, and personally is something that makes me very happy.
At Least 1 Water Bottle a Day
Drinking water is quite literally one of the best things for you. My main goal with drinking water was to help my body and my skin, and I have definitely seen improvements in these areas since I have been drinking more water.
Drinking water has been seen to clear skin and create a healthier body quite a few ways. One that I have noticed is, of course, clearer skin, but also less headaches. I have struggled with terrible headaches for a while, but since I have been hitting my water goal, those have decreased.
Pray Every Morning and Night
This is one that I am still working on. I feel as though I just need to get into a routine of waking up and praying, and vise versa, praying and then falling asleep. I know that I have the time to do it, for me it is really just about getting this routine down.
Although this habit may not apply to everyone, it is a great goal to have for many people. Praying immediately when you wake up, and right before you sleep can be so beneficial to your relationship with God.
Attempt to Hang out with Friends as Much as Possible
Hanging out with friends, or people in general, just makes me so happy. As much as I love my alone time, I am also a very social person and love being able to get out and do things.
This makes me feel healthier mentally, as I am able to do things that I enjoy, which is what makes it a healthy habit.
Breaking it Down
These healthy habits that I listed are MY personal goals, but they may be different for others. There are a few specific categories that I follow though, which I will list below, along with examples.
Health
Health goals can include things such as eating, fitness, and anything else that may affect your body positively. I find this category to be the most vital, and also the most popular for goal setting amongst other people.
Religious
In my religious goals, I typically include things involving going to church, reading my bible, and praying. Of course, this is a very important part of my goals, because it is a very important part of my life.
Travel
Maybe this isn’t for everyone, but I have many travel goals set for myself. I hope to be able to travel to many places, as I believe this affects me so positively in the mental health aspect, because of how much I love it. It is so great to get new experiences and learn new things from around different places.
School
Again, doesn’t apply to everyone, but setting goals and habits for myself regarding school is very important, as I still have years of school ahead of me.
Money
Money, money, money. Something I always find myself stressing over, as many other people do as well. There are so many things that I have done to create a less stressful situation for myself involving money topics. Setting goals, such as sticking to my savings plans and budgets, have really helped me in many ways.
Life
All of the “in general” goals, as I call them. These are the random ones, that might not fall into a category, but are still really important.
